Context:

Under the direct supervision of the Grants Officer, overall supervision of the Grants Management and Capacity Building Coordinator, and in close coordination with the Information Management Officer and Cash Based Interventions (CBI) Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting information management, data analysis, reports production and tool design for the Grants Management and Capacity Building (GMCB) Unit. The GMCB manages and coordinates IOM’s humanitarian action implemented through humanitarian partners in Shelter, WASH, NFI, Protection, and Health, and leads on all Cash-Based Interventions (CBI) activities.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Collect, clean, verify and analyze data submitted by the implementing teams and ensure timely data entry to the Sudan IM system RIMS. Assist in maintaining databases, cleaning and processing raw data, and preparing it for further analysis.
  2. Assist in coding and configuring surveys for data collection tools like KOBO Toolbox and ODK, supporting effective data collection aligned with project needs.
  3. Support the CBI Coordinator in the vulnerability analysis and identification of the eligible beneficiaries; prepare distribution lists and register the beneficiaries in RIMS.
  4. Assist in M&E report writing, collaborating with other team members to analyse the data, provide insights, and ensure the findings are clearly presented in reports; prepare data visualizations, summaries, and statistical analysis to highlight trends, patterns, or outcomes.
  5. Generate pictorial/graphical analysis as well as PPT presentation including graphs, charts, tables and graphics/info graphics and info sheets, infographics, visualizations and maps.
  6. Assist in training staff involved in information management activities, including data collection and data entry teams.
  7. Ensure the integrity and availability of IM data systems, including proper backup/restore systems, data validation and security procedures.
  8. Ensure proper archiving/saving of the data collected and maintenance of the equipment used in the field per established procedures.
  9. Maintain confidentiality of information as per IOM’s Data Protection Guidelines and strengthen collaborative relationships with other department staff and project team members.
  10. Contribute to the overall management of a fully functional database to support the GMCB unit, the utilizing software such as Excel, Kobo toolbox, SPSS, Power BI, GIS etc.
  11. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Data Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience, or High School diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • At least two years of experience in data cleaning, analysis and reporting, preferably on migrant projects.
  • At least one year of experience using the following tools: Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and SQL Server.
  • At least one year of experience in systems analysis and development, data modelling or SQL programming.
  • At least one year of experience developing and maintaining data systems with ODK/Kobo.
  • Experience with IOM or UN agencies is an advantage.

SKILLS

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including expertise with pivot tables, data analysis functions, VBA scripting, power query and visualization functions.
  • Knowledge of RESTful web service APIs and modular user interfaces on an application framework/platform – Drupal, Symfony, and React is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, GIS, Kobo toolbox, SPSS, SQL Server highly desirable
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Id-Design, Photoshop, or other graphics software an advantage.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian operations an advantage.
  • Demonstrated understanding of different data collection methods

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
