SUMMARY:
The Senior Country Representative (SCR) oversees the implementation of the Citizen Observation and Human Rights House programs based in Kinshasa, and the Extractive Industries and Governance program based in Lubumbashi. This position is based in Kinshasa, DRC, with travel to other parts of the DRC. Due the location of this position, Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) will be required. As the representative of The Carter Center in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), (s)he maintains collaborative relationships with donors, government officials, and representatives of international organizations. The SCR supervises personnel and manages financial, administrative and logistical operations of the field office, while simultaneously working with headquarters, field staff, consultants and external experts to achieve project goals. (S)he is accountable for ensuring the effective direction and management of the Human Rights and Democracy Programs’ activities in the DRC. The Senior Country Representative, DRC reports to Associate Director, Democracy Program.
