Our Kenya program, founded in 2006, operates under the local brand Tupande. Close to 500 staff in our Kakamega headquarters support 1,747 field staff and serve more than 1 million farmers. In Nairobi, around 50 staff support global functions like procurement, recruitment, government relations, and communications

About the Role

This role ensures a smooth running of the factory to meet specified standards of excellence through execution of human resource management, procurement and office administration functions.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Oversee factory hiring, performance monitoring, and staff development.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all worker payments and payroll compliance.
  • Maintain high standards for employee welfare, health, and safety on the factory floor.

Procurement & Supply Chain Oversight

  • Manage factory-level procurement, ensuring all suppliers meet quality and food safety standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance and maintain detailed inventory documentation for all procured items.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to procurement policies and procedures.

Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Serve as a key member of the Food Safety Team (FST), conducting hazard analyses and internal audits.
  • Coordinate with Government Relations to ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Work with internal and external security stakeholders to ensure the facility is secure 24/7.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a relevant field (Business, HR, Logistics, etc.).
  • Experience: 2–3 years in an Administration or HR role. Manufacturing experience is a significant advantage.
  • Problem Solver: Ability to identify root causes and ensure business continuity under pressure.
  • Communicator: Strong oral and written skills for high-level stakeholder management.
  • Autonomous Leader: Capable of processing complex instructions into efficient, team-oriented actions.

One Acre Fund is a nonprofit organization that supplies smallholder farmers in East Africa with asset-based financing and agriculture training services to reduce hunger and poverty. Headquartered in Bungoma, Kenya, the organization works with farmers in rural villages throughout Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, and Malawi.

Using a market-based approach, One Acre Fund facilitates activities and transactions at various levels of the farming value chain, including seed sourcing and market support. In 2015, farmers who worked with One Acre Fund realized a 300% return on their investment and significantly increased farm income on every planted acre.

One Acre Fund offers smallholder farmers an asset-based loan that includes: 1) distribution of seeds and fertilizer; 2) financing for farm inputs; 3) training on agriculture techniques; and 4) market facilitation to maximize profits. Each service bundle is around US$80 in value and includes crop insurance to mitigate the risks of drought and disease.

To receive the One Acre Fund loan and training, farmers must join a village group that is supported by a local One Acre Fund field officer. Field officers meet regularly with the farmer groups to coordinate delivery of farm inputs, administer trainings and to collect repayments. One Acre Fund offers a flexible repayment system: farmers may pay back their loans in any increment at any time during the growing season. Beyond their core program model, One Acre Fund also offers smallholder farmers opportunities to purchase additional products and services on credit. These include solar lights and reusable sanitary pads.
