JOB CONTEXT:

The Unlocking Opportunities project aims to advance inclusive economic empowerment for youth with disabilities, with a strong focus on young women. Through a twin-track approach personalized support and systemic inclusion the program equips youth with skills, resources, and opportunities to engage meaningfully in the economy as entrepreneurs and employees. It further promotes innovation in areas such as assistive technology and digital accessibility, while working with both public and private sector actors to mainstream disability inclusion across key sectors including agriculture, digital economy, and the creative industry.

The communication officer’s role is to produce content (texts, photos, videos, etc.) in line with our audience strategy (private donors, internal, institutional, journalists, etc.) designed to promote HI’s actions and values and distribute this content to our target audiences by adapting it to the relevant communication channels (digital, social media, media relations, print, etc.).

YOUR MISSION:

Mission 1: Contribute to the objectives of our communications strategy

  • Identify subjects of interest and define talking points
  • Meet the information demands of target audiences
  • Evaluate and monitor the relevance of the content produced and adapt it to needs
  • Monitor the market to propose new formats in line with changes in audience usage and communication trends

Mission 2: Content production

  • Contribute to the editorial calendar by planning content production
  • Organise information gathering from all possible sources (NA, field staff, experts at headquarters, etc.)
  • Produce communication content in the required formats in keeping with the organisation’s image and strategy
  • Coordinate the production of infographics and videos with the relevant departments or service providers
  • Draft messages and pitches

Mission 3: Disseminate content to target audiences

  • Plan communication campaigns aimed at target audiences to contribute to our communication strategy
  • Ensure that content is disseminated to all target audiences (internal or external) using the most appropriate communication techniques (media relations, event organisation, digital, social media, print, etc.), independently or in coordination with experts (internal or external).
  • Identify and put HI’s experts in the field or at headquarters in touch with internal or external requesters (national associations, journalists, partners, donors, etc.)

Mission 4: Communication focal point for the organisation

  • Be the point of contact internally for all communication issues relating to HI
  • Provide guidance internally on charters, guidelines and directives relating to HI’s image and brand, as well as on modalities for the production of communication tools

Mission 5: Emergency preparedness and response

  • Contribute to emergency preparedness actions and, in an emergency, adapt working methods to contribute to an effective humanitarian approach by HI.

YOUR PROFILE :

Educational background and experience

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in the following fields: Communication
  • Experience**:** Over five years of practical experience within an international NGO, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
