Child Safeguarding

  • Level 3:  The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

Role Purpose

  • The Warehouse & Assets Assistant is responsible for handling Logistics activities including Warehouse & Inventory management tasks, and Asset management tasks, in accordance with the timescales set and agreed and SCI’s systems, policies and procedures, to support our programmes to deliver outstanding results for children.

Key Areas of Accountability

  • Warehousing and Inventory Management
  • Supervise loading and offloading of delivery and distribution trucks.
  • Receive commodities and/or items in good condition, Count and record the goods received with appropriate documentation.
  • Update warehouse operation data into the Warehouse management software (TIM).
  • Ensure proper warehousing of the goods received by type, shipment, expiry date…
  • Keep the warehouse neat and clean; ensure pest control is in place and is monitored on a regular basis.
  • Ensure proper stock inventory management and documentation.
  • Check and maintain Store security measures, e.g. locks, windows, and maintain SCI key management policy.
  • Report to the line manager and security focal point in case of problems.

Asset Management:

  • Ensure Country Office assets are checked and liaise with Asset Coordinator so that all changes are real-time updated into the master Asset Register or Asset management system.
  • Support the Country Office Team (Asset Coordinator) in managing the full asset lifecycle and ensuring the assets are handed over or disposed of on time and in an appropriate/sustainable way, in accordance with SCI and donor rules and regulations.

Governance, Systems, Tools and Processes:

  • Implement and ensure compliance with all our Asset management and Warehousing & Inventory Management Policies, Manuals, Toolkits and established Procedures.
  • Set a strong tone from the top that fraud is unacceptable.
  • Ensures all suppliers and service providers understand SCI safeguarding policies before they are engaged.
  • Ensures SCI safeguarding policies are always upheld by the service providers.
  • Ensure that we are using recognized systems and processes, including (when available) TIM, e-Asset

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe programming guidelines are followed to reduce the risk of unsafe practices, strengthen prevention measures and identify and mitigate risks in warehousing operations.

Requirements
Qualifications:

  • Preferred BA/BSc in Supply Chain, Logistics, Management, Business/Public Administration, Economics or any other relevant discipline and/or professional License/Certification in Supply Chain/Logistics or equivalent Experience.

Experience and Skill:

  • One prior work experience in a similar role in an NGO or the private commercial sector.
  • Sector experience in the NGO/UN system is preferred, but a strong commercial sector candidate with a demonstrable interest and passion for the NGO sector will be considered.
  • Strong communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills in English.
