Axios was formed by a group of health experts who shared the vision of an organization that could work effectively with clients and stakeholders across the public and private sectors to improve access to healthcare for patients in developing countries.

In 1997, following the pioneering efforts of its founders in launching one of the first antiretroviral (ARV) access programs as part of the UNAIDS Drug Access Initiative – which proved that ARTs could be delivered safely and effectively in low-income settings and paved the way for subsequent price reductions – Axios International was created, followed by the Axios Foundation in 2000.

Axios Foundation has broad and deep experience in all aspects of global healthcare, with particular expertise in Supply Chain Management and Logistics, HIV/AIDS and Community Based Services, Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Cancer Care and Treatment, Lab Strengthening and Supply Chain Management.  Our technical expertise is complemented by our proficiency and experience in capacity building, training, assessments, research and evaluation, program development and management and strategic planning.

Our team members represent a wide range of educational, cultural, and geographic backgrounds, and share a common passion for and commitment to innovation and quality. We have a global network of international health organizations and local institutions in 100+ countries, giving us large intervention capabilities and a significant repository of comprehensive data and local knowledge.

The Axios Foundation is a non-profit organization incorporated in the U.S. as a 501(c)(3) public charity.
