Under the supervision of the Logistics Site Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor ensures that general warehousing activities are properly carried out for a specific product family (e.g., economic security, water and habitat, medical or communication) in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs). S/he organizes and plans the warehouse’s activities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance of the warehouse as well as its infrastructure (pallets, shelving, electricity and water supply, lighting, heating, air-conditioning etc.)
  • Ensures integrity of the buildings, prevention of fire hazards, prevention of damage to goods by leaking water
  • Ensures proper use and care of all facilities as well as warehouse equipment.
  • Instructs the Storekeepers and Skilled worker of their daily duties.
  • Authorizes the mobilization of daily labors as needed and approving their pay sheets after Logistics Site Manager (LSM) final green light.
  • Supervises the storekeepers and Skilled Worker in the goods reception, ensuring that ICRC standard procedures are respected, that quantity and quality control is seriously and fairly undertaken and that the flow of the reception of goods remains fluid.
  • Ensures and supervises the issuance of any requested reporting or statistical data, sources: statistics per program, etc.
  • Ensures packing Lists are well prepared and Bin/Stock cards updated accordingly.
  • Ensures packing and dispatch are made on time and according to ICRC standards and supervises the issue of waybills if needed.
  • Ensures that all consignments are packed appropriately and marked with consignee, destination, order number and parcel number and that consignments leave the warehouse with correct and appropriate documentation.
  • Ensures safe loading of the trucks, both for the commodities and for the truck itself. Performs any other operation with loaders when needed.
  • Monitors the condition of the stored commodities ensuring that adapted hygiene and warehousing standard levels are constantly applied (protection from heat, freezing, water, fire, dirt and vermin).
  • Ensures the dispatch of ICRC goods with fleet department and/or commercial transport companies.
  • Ensures that all consignments are packed appropriately and marked with consignee, destination, order number and parcel number and that no consignments leave the warehouse with correct and appropriate documentation.
  • Ensures the dispatch of ICRC goods with fleet department and/or commercial transport companies.

Education and Experience Required

  • University degree.
  • Four (4) years work experience in a similar field.
  • People Management experience.
  • Excellent command (spoken and written) of English.
  • Computer literacy.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a humanitarian institution based in Geneva, Switzerland and a three-time Nobel Prize Laureate. State parties (signatories) to the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols of 1977 (Protocol I, Protocol II) and 2005 have given the ICRC a mandate to protect victims of international and internal armed conflicts.
