The Africa Leadership Forum (ALF) is a not-for-profit organization and Africa’s premier civil society organization. ALF has been involved in Leadership Development, Capacity Building Enterprise Development, and Economic Empowerment since 1988 In addition to training, ALF has conducted researches in various fields of development and policy design at the National, Regional and Continental level with active engagement with policymakers and leadership at all levels.
The forum grew out of the need to assist in improving the capacity and competence of African leaders to tackle development challenges confronting Africa. The primary focus of ALF is to help improve the current quality of leadership in Africa while at the same time helping to train the next generation of leaders for the continent. ALF provided the first forum where leaders could meet and exchange experiences with the view to improving their performance.
Part of ALF's mission is to develop leadership capacities in Africa in order to increase the productivity of major actors in government, parliament, business, and civil society with a view to creating enabling conditions for the development of the continent in an environment of peace, stability, and security. A range of high-level conferences, seminars, workshops, and publications address the quest for effective leadership, efficient management, and enhancement of leadership skills.
ALF has spearheaded regional and continent-wide initiatives such as the Conference on Security, Stability, Development and Cooperation (CSSDCA), now a standing conference of the African Union, and the Africa Women's Forum.
