German Kenyan Cooperative Development
GKCD is an NGO which is fully supported by the German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation, the apex and auditing association of the German Cooperative Organizations. In Kenya, we are working with project partners such as the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Co-operative (MITC), The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK), The Co-operative Alliance of Kenya (CAK) and primary co-operatives in Narok as well as in Kakamega County through CETIC Centers.
The project’s mandate is to empower the co-operative sector in Narok and Kakamega County through the establishment of Co-operative Education, Training and Information Centers (CETICs) at County level. Within this approach, the project assists in developing intellectual, conceptual and consulting capacities of the centers in a manner, that they enables them to provide quality education, training, consultancies and information to their member. This approach is a pilot approach which will grow with the needs and desires of primary cooperatives hand in hand with their economic development. The CETIC Centers aiming to achieve financial sustainability and independency by the end of the project.
