The Government of Kenya has a mission to “promote and provide quality, curative, preventive and rehabilitative healthcare services to all Kenyans.” It is quite an ambitious objective for a country comprised of approximately 40 million residents. Yet the plan is imperative and focuses on the public health issues that burden Kenya, such as gender equality and women’s empowerment; extreme child mortality; infectious disease like malaria and tuberculosis; and lack of sustainable health system infrastructure.Working collaboratively to support the mission of the Government of Kenya, JRJFI has convened a team of partner donors to establish the Kenya Women and Children’s Wellness Centre (KWCWC). Located on the campus of United States International University in Nairobi Kenya, and housed on 10 acres of dedicated land, KWCWC will be a state of the art healthcare facility whose programming shares a common intent to serve the health and wellness of the community. The Kenyan Ministry of Health will utilize the space as a hub of healthcare research and reform towards its public health mission. The main programmed elements include a 170 bed inpatient hospital; women and children outpatient clinics; institute of learning where practitioners are trained in healthcare administration and systems, Gender Violence Recovery Center (GVRC), Family village (hostel) and a Forensics Laboratory. The facilities are organized into a campus setting overlooking the rolling landscape.
