Make A Difference Leadership Foundation (MAD)
Make A Difference Leadership Foundation (MAD Leadership Foundation) was formed in 2003 by Francois Pienaar. We focus on leadership development through education: the approach is to identify academically talented scholars with leadership potential, who do not have the necessary financial resources, and offer them support in the areas of education, leadership, wellness and life-skills development. We holistically invest in our scholars’ academic, wellness, life-skills, mentorship and leadership journeys, ensuring that through the 9+ years they are on the Scholar Wellness, Development and Support Programme, they are given every opportunity to reach their full potential as South Africa’s future leaders.Through the collective efforts of our multi-disciplinary Scholar Support Unit, managed by a clinical psychologist, and including a: social worker, educational psychologist, registered counsellor, qualified teacher, organisational psychologist and volunteer mentors, we are able to focus on identifying, interviewing, monitoring, mentoring, supporting and encouraging every single individual who is selected to be a MAD Leadership Foundation scholar.
