Who and What is the MDF of South Africa? In 1998, the Foundation was renamed “The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) of South Africa”. The focus had shifted away from supporting research on a branch level– to focussing on improving the quality of life for those living with muscular dystrophy. Support and fundraising for research and awareness is handled by our National Office alone. The Foundation currently has our National Office in Johannesburg, with branches in the Cape Province, Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal.
