Palestinian Monitoring Group

The Palestine Monitor was established in December 2000, after the start of the Second Intifada. Since then, The Palestine Monitor has documented a broad scale of human rights abuses carried out by the Israeli government and military across the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.

We, a team of international journalists based in Ramallah, aim to provide a space for Palestinians to tell their stories and to challenge misconceptions about the Palestinian struggle for freedom, and to cover the conflict and occupation from within Palestine.

Co-founder of the Palestinian National Initiative (Al Mubadara), Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi established The Palestine Monitor to be a counterweight to the bias against Palestine found in many international news sources. Our aim is transparent: to present the Palestinian perspective. Current events and political developments in Israel and Palestine must be understood in the larger context of the Nakba, the Palestinian exodus of 1948, and the continued occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
