Traditionally, leaving home is a significant milestone for everybody, including those with a family and a home to return to when the going gets tough. But for those youngsters who have grown up in care, the transition is that much more challenging when they don’t have a safety net to fall back on. South African Youth Education for Sustainability (SAYes), located in Cape Town, aims to aid in the creation of a society in which children and young people are given the opportunity to reach their full potential socially, emotionally and physically, and where they will contribute to a society as independent, mature responsible adults, through the creation of a programme designed to aid the empowerment of this vulnerable group and equip them with the tools necessary to effectively transition out of care.
SAYes operates as a Trust on a not for profit basis, managed by a local and international Board of Trustees. Our vision is of a society in which children and young people are given the opportunity to reach their full potential, socially, emotionally and physically, and where they will contribute to society as independent, mature and responsible adults.
