The Institute for Social Accountability.

The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA) is a national civil society organization committed to the

realization of sound policy and good governance in Kenya. TISA is registered as a trust and has been

operational since March 2008. It continues to engage with various relevant state and non-state actors

in its quest to promote effective local governance in Kenya. TISA has built considerable expertise and

networks in local governance, participatory governance, advocacy strategies, capacity building and

practice learning while growing in experience and capacity to develop capacity-building tools and

curricula in these areas.

TISA’s current strategic plan has four thematic areas are; (i) Public Accountability, (ii) Inclusive People

Economies, (iii) Communication, Information & Innovation Management, and (iv) Institutional

Development and Sustainability. The programs focus on leadership and good governance at national

and county governments, implementation of Kenya Constitution 2010 and related legislation,

devolution in Kenya, human rights, public finance management, public engagement and active

citizenship, trade justice, and right to food.
