Chemonics seeks deputy chiefs of party for anticipated USAID HIV service delivery support projects in Kenya. These projects aim to improve and increase access and utilization of quality health services through strengthened service delivery and institutional capacity of county health systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical oversight and manage project implementation for facility and community level service delivery
  • Report directly to the chief of party and take a leadership role in ensuring the project meets stated goals and reporting requirements
  • Serve as acting chief of party in the chief of party’s absence
  • Coordinate among USAID, key stakeholders, and other implementing partners; liaise with Kenyan government institutions and representatives, particularly at the county/facility level
  • Take a technical leadership role in coordination with the Kenyan government and other partners, and work closely with the health systems strengthening advisor
  • Stay abreast of current implementation science and state-of-the-art service delivery approaches

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health or a related field
  • Minimum seven years of experience in managing and implementing complex public health programs in a development context, including least five years in sub-Saharan Africa, preferably in Kenya
  • Minimum five years of demonstrated experience in project design of HIV technical activities and managing and supervising teams
  • Minimum three years of demonstrated and recent experience in a senior staff position in support of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment; quality improvement and assurance; health systems strengthening; monitoring and evaluation; or operations research
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, for-profit private sector entities, local community organizations, and donors and other stakeholders, particularly at the subnational level
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Professional level of oral and written fluency in English
