1. General Background

The video producer will assist in the intaking, editing, translating assistance and output of local offices content material for sharing to the Comms, PSP, Donor Relations as well as all offices in the region.

2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment

(Concise and detailed description of activities, tasks and responsibilities to be undertaken, including expected travel, if applicable)

Under the supervision of the Senior Communications Officer, the Video Producer will work on the following:

Download incoming video files, either raw or edited.

  • Edit video stories, social output, B-roll as required to UNHCR style and standards.
  • Assist and oversee the production-translation of English to French and French to English video content for the region and global sites as required.
  • Ensure the quality of the various versions of the videos produced by the local offices.
  • Work in cooperation with the Nairobi content hub and the Geneva Video Unit.
  • Provide the local offices, if needed technical assistance for video shooting, editing, and uploading.
  • Assist Comms and External Relations staff with Illustrator and other creative programs to output content.
  • Film UNHCR interviews/events if needed.

3. Monitoring and Progress Controls

(Clear description of measurable outputs, milestones, key performance indicators and/or reporting requirements which will enable performance monitoring)

  • Production of videos in the amount requested by the External Engagement Service.

4. Qualifications and Experience

(List the required education, work experience, expertise and competencies of the individual contractor. The listed education and experience should correspond with the level at which the contract is offered.)

a) Education (Level and area of required and/or preferred education)

Photography, video, film production, or similar area of study preferred.

a) b. Work Experience

4 years of professional video experience in with High School Diploma; or 2 years of professional video experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.

Working experience for a large organization is an asset.

a) c. Key Competencies

(Technical knowledge, skills, managerial competencies or other personal competencies relevant to the performance of the assignment. Clearly distinguish between required and desired competencies)

  • Experience working in communications for humanitarian or UN organizations.
  • Filming in the field and/or studio.
  • Knowledge of current video trends.
  • Experience with live delivery from the field, including social media live functions and live video.
  • Field production savvy and ease with multilingual/multicultural production.
  • Confident video editing skills.
  • Experience with video post-production including editorial validation processes, editing in post and output.
  • Experience with content management systems.
  • Ease and enthusiasm in working with a range of video formats including for social media.
  • Good organisational skills allowing for multi-tasking.
  • Good understanding of geopolitics and humanitarian issues.
  • Fluency in French. At least intermediate English.
