Job Summary
The Programme Lead will serve as the focal person for all matters relating to the school feeding programme. She/he is responsible for steering all the implementation and development related to the program (technical, operational, management, etc.). S/he will be the link between management and the school feeding program.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Programme development and management
- Develop and review the school feeding program strategy to support the strategic direction of the organization.
- To build, maintain and manage the school feeding program.
- Take part in creating, editing, and revising policies and procedures related to the program.
- Organizing programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
- Analysing program risks and advising on the mitigation procedures.
- Creating and managing the program’s short and long-term goals.
- Development of an operating plan for the school feeding program.
- Participate in the writing of program funding proposals to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services.
- Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
Programme Implementation
- Ensure approved project deliverables are completed within the agreed timescale and budget, and reports are submitted as per the agreed schedule and formats.
- Lead the program’s financial and operational planning, including the annual work planning process and development of an appropriate exit strategy.
- Take a lead role in beneficiaries mapping and selection process.
- Maintain proper filing system both hard and soft copy to ensure easy retrieval of information when needed.
- Organize stakeholder empowerment activities to ensure proper implementation of the school feeding programme.
- Ensure that all the documents submitted to the finance for payment have passed the necessary approval process and meet the set criteria.
- Identify critical issues in the implementation of the program and take the necessary actions to address problems and constraints.
- Ensure adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in the implementation of the school feeding programme.
- Exercise sound judgment to ensure project expenses are reasonable, allocable, and prudent.
- Maintain an efficient program performance tracking system to inform the necessary support towards improved implementation.
Reporting, Monitoring, and Evaluation
- Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual program implementation and monitoring plans and budgets;
- Write annual, quarterly, monthly, and activity reports to inform the progress of the organization.
- Support the development of a monitoring and evaluation system for the school feeding program.
- Maintain a reliable database for the benefitting schools and individuals for easy implementation and ease of tracking.
Staff management
- Coordinate, manage, and motivate the program team, ensuring that they have clear objectives/individual work plans as part of performance management and receive meaningful feedback on their performance.
- Manage school feeding program staff to ensure timely, accurate, and proper completion of tasks, and utilize his skills for successful completion of your responsibilities.
- Collaboratively undertake performance-based reviews of the school feeding program staff reporting under him or her as part of the professional development process.
- Keep the management informed on issues of concern pertaining to the program’s staff.
Stakeholder and community engagement
- Support in the management and engagement of stakeholders at the government, school, and community levels.
- Ensure all program participants are familiar with the school feeding programme program policies and procedures.
- At any time, the policies and procedures undergo a significant change, ensure a meeting is held to discuss the changes with the program participants.
- Work with and support the management to nurture strong relationships with schools, partners, relevant government offices, and donors as well as other key stakeholders.
- Actively participate in various stakeholders’ related coordination meetings as required.
Accountability and code of conduct

- Ensure value for many through ensuring quality and timely deliveries by the contracted vendors

Job Specification:
Education, Qualifications & Experience Required
- University Degree/advanced university degree in relevant discipline.
- Minimum of five years’ progressive and relevant professional work experience.
- Experience in staff and operations supervision
- Experience working with government counterparts and other partners at various levels
- Proven ability to manage a diverse team of professionals, with good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to motivate/lead staff.
- Strong results-based management style with the ability to challenge existing mindsets as necessary
- Experience in documenting and sharing lessons
- Experience in collecting, processing, and presenting data, information, and trends in formats suitable for diverse audiences
