Position to be filled: 1st September 2024

Objectives

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is looking for a “Mobile Implementation Officer (MIO) UniField Finance” to join our dynamic team at MSF WaCA. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing the UniField financial module across various MSF missions in West and Central African countries, including Niger, Chad, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC).

Main responsibilities

As a “MIO UniField Finance,” you will be responsible for leading the deployment of the UniField financial software in the field, performing mapping analyses, configuring the software, and training users. You will also provide ongoing support to ensure a smooth transition from the current system to UniField, offer feedback and recommendations, and maintain coordination with the Supply and HR team for an integrated deployment approach.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Conduct mapping analyses at both HQ and field levels to prepare and design the deployment phase.
  • Configure the finance module of the software, including database migration and management.
  • Train and coach users in the missions using adapted training material.
  • Support users in change management and new work organization.
  • Provide regular on-site reports with detailed feedback and recommendations to the Unifield PMO
  • Enforce and monitor the implementation of all conditions required for proper deployment of the finance module, ensuring a smooth transition from Saga to UniField.
  • Ensure good coordination with other department teams (Supply, etc.) for an integrated deployment approach.
  • Capitalize all deployment-related documentation for the project.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned, providing financial expertise and experience to finance and operation departments.

Job requirements

Education

  • · University degree or equivalent professional qualification in Finance or Accounting management.

Competencies

  • Attention to detail, strong analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Good communication skills, flexibility, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenging environments.

Professional experience required

  • MSF Finance experience or equivalent accountant experience.
  • Strong experience in UNIFIELD systems is required
  • Experience in training, hands-on coaching, and delivering training to various levels of staff.
  • Familiarity with testing and monitoring system quality.
  • Experience in guiding change processes (an advantage).
  • Accounting background (an advantage).

Languages Skills

  • Proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken, is compulsory.

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of computer tools and project management software.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was founded in 1971 in France by a group of doctors and journalists in the wake of war and famine in Biafra. Their aim was to establish an independent organisation that focuses on delivering emergency medicine aid quickly, effectively and impartially.

Doctors Without Borders

Three hundred volunteers made up the organisation when it was founded: doctors, nurses and other staff, including the 13 founding doctors and journalists.

MSF was created in the belief that all people should have access to healthcare regardless of gender, race, religion, creed or political affiliation, and that people’s medical needs outweigh respect for national boundaries. MSF’s principles of action are described in our charter, which established a framework for our activities.

MSF's first missions

MSF’s first mission was to the Nicaraguan capital, Managua, in 1972, after an earthquake destroyed most of the city and killed between 10,000 and 30,000 people.

In 1974, MSF set up a relief mission to help the people of Honduras after Hurricane Fifi caused major flooding and killed thousands of people.

In 1975, MSF established its first large-scale medical programme during a refugee crisis, providing medical care for the waves of Cambodians seeking sanctuary from Pol Pot’s oppressive rule.

In these first missions, the weaknesses of MSF as a new humanitarian organisation became readily apparent: preparation was lacking, doctors were left unsupported and supply chains were tangled.
