Role Summary
Provide technical advice and support to ensure uniform WASH processes and infrastructure across Medair bases. Lead, monitor, and evaluate WASH aspects of the country program, while coordinating with authorities and NGOs. Oversee WASH-related proposals and reports, and build capacity among staff, promoting best practices within the program.
Project Overview
WASH projects to be implemented in Nord Kivu Province alongside mainly emergency health focussed projects targeting displaced, war affected and vulnerable populations in Eastern DR Congo. Developmental type projects aimed at long term and sustainable behaviour change in the general population and state health employees to improve public health outcomes.
Workplace & Conditions
Field-based in Goma, DRC, with regular travel to Medair bases across the country—explore Medair’s work in DR Congo.
Starting Date / Initial Contract Details
December 2024. Full-time, length of contract 24 months.
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical advice on WASH and civil engineering interventions, ensuring infrastructure quality and compliance with government, Sphere, and WHO guidelines, while developing staff capacity.
• Oversee WASH infrastructure programs, including project design, evaluation, monitoring visits, and reporting systems, while identifying new project opportunities and funding.
• Lead the development of guidelines, protocols, and standard designs for WASH infrastructure, integrating beneficiary participation and accountability.
• Represent Medair in relevant networks and meetings, contributing to sector progress, and supporting recruitment and budget monitoring for WASH projects.
• Ensure quality management through regular assessments, feedback, and alignment with Medair’s strategic guidelines, while fostering a supportive team spiritual life. (E.g. Project Management responsibilities)
Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies
• University degree in a WASH-related field, such as civil engineering or construction.
• Proficient in English and French, both spoken and written.
• 5 years of post-qualification professional experience in a management role.
• Knowledge of Humanitarian Essentials, Sphere, HAP Standards, and international guidelines.
• Strong planning, analytical, leadership, and project management skills, with proficiency in report and proposal writing.
