Proposal Summary:
The Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) is a U.S. Department of State security assistance program focused on building international peacekeeping capacity worldwide in close collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). The GPOI program’s mission is to strengthen the effectiveness of the United Nations (UN) and regional peace operations by enhancing partner countries’ capacities to prepare, deploy, and sustain peacekeepers and reinforcing UN and regional organizations’ performance and accountability frameworks. State’s Bureau of Political Military Affairs, Office of Global Programs and Initiatives, Peace Operations Capacity Building Division (PM/GPI/POCB) serves as the GPOI Program Office. The overarching purpose of this project is to build the Malawi Defense Force’s (MDF’s) capacity to prepare, deploy, and sustain effective peacekeeping forces in support of UN-mandated tasks.
Position Summary:
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Technical Trainer shall be the Team Lead’s principal trainer conducting various peacekeeping-related contract training requirements specified in the statement of work (SOW). This includes curriculum development. This position is contingent upon award and is based in Malawi.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of ten (10) cumulative years of U.S. or NATO military experience.
- Demonstrated management of training resources, training planning, and development experience at the tactical or operational level.
- Attainment of military grade of E7-E9, CWO3-CWO5, or O4 and higher.
- Experience as senior trainer, military or civilian, to a foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building and unit-level assessments.
- Relevant military operations or foreign security force (police or military) capacity building experience in the last 5 years.
- Demonstrated experience in a U.S. or NATO military training and doctrine development organization or permanent assignment to a U.S. or NATO military training school or combat training center with direct training and unit development preferred.
- Regional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa preferred.
