BACKGROUND:
Windle International Somalia (WISOM) is an International Non-Governmental organization with oversight support and coordination by regional Office in Nairobi. Windle was founded with the belief that good education was essential if Africa was to meet the challenges it faced. Windle International Somalia implements Education, Training and Integrated program in Livelihood and Economic Inclusion, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Climate Adaptation and Green Energy and Peace Building.

Windle is seeking a dedicated and experienced Education Specialist to join our team in Mogadishu. The Education Specialist will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the Accelerated Education Activity Project. This position focuses on developing curriculum, teacher training, teacher assessment and effective classroom instructional strategies tailored to the needs of specific learners and teachers.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Program Design and Development:
- Coordinate the development and refinement of an accelerated education curriculum that aligns with national and international standards
- Develop effective teacher instructional materials and assessment tools for diverse learner needs in line with Universal Design for Learning practices.
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to design assessment frameworks and tools for monitoring teacher progress.
- Teacher Training and Capacity Building:
- Design and deliver training programs for teachers on accelerated education methodologies and classroom management.
- Coordinate the provision of ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development for educators/teachers
- Foster a community of practice among educators to share best practices.
- Program Implementation and Support:
- Oversee the implementation of the curriculum across project sites, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot challenges faced by field teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate accelerated education learners into the formal education system.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Work with the MEAL team to develop and execute monitoring and evaluation plans.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback for improvement.
- Analyze data to inform program adjustments and enhancements.
- Advocacy and Partnerships:
- Build and maintain relationships with education authorities and community leaders.
- Represent Windle International at sector meetings and conferences.
- Collaborate with other organizations to share resources and best practices.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare comprehensive reports on program activities and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of program activities, including training sessions and stakeholder meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS & skills
- Master’s degree in Education, International Development, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in education particularly on teacher training
- Demonstrable experience in designing and managing ABE/NFE education programs, including development of effective tools of teaching and overall project implementation.
- Proven experience in strategy development and external representation with government and donors; experience leading technical working groups is an advantage
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely.
- Proficient in writing high-quality reports and analyzing information.
