Here’s where you come in:

World Vision seeks a Chief of Party (CoP) for the proposed USAID-funded Niger Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA). The goal of the Activity is to improve and maintain the food security of extremely poor, socially marginalized populations, which can potentially include groups in IDP settlements and surrounding host communities despite shocks and stresses. This activity is a 5-year program worth approximately $70 million.

As the Chief of Party, you will be responsible for the overall management, implementation and representation of the RFSA. You will build and maintain relationships with host governments, donors, other donor-funded projects and stakeholders, local organisations, and partners. You must understand and demonstrate commitment to the importance of adaptive management, gender, youth, and social inclusion issues in food security programming and within staff and management of the activity. You will provide leadership in recruiting, developing, and managing staff, as well as managing programmatic and financial reporting.

The CoP position is contingent upon funding and donor approval and will be based in Niamey, Niger with 25% of the time spent in other regions of Niger. The CoP will report to the National Director of WV Niger.

Requirements include:

  • A master’s degree in international development, non-profit management, agriculture, natural resource management, economics, agribusiness, or related concentration from an accredited U.S. college or university, or international equivalent.
  • 15 years of progressively increasing management responsibility in complex, multi-sectoral international Humanitarian-Peace-Development (HDP) projects, and at least 10 years of experience in managing in a major leadership role (e.g., Chief of Party or National Director) in West Africa, and preferably Niger.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in food security and livelihoods and experience in managing program implementation and financial reporting.
  • Must have prior experience working in the Sahel, familiarity with Niger’s social, political, economic, and cultural landscape, and demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with host governments, donors, other donor-funded projects and stakeholders, local organizations, and partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French.
