Chemonics seeks interested and qualified individuals for a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for the anticipated USAID-funded Enhance Digital Health Activity in Ethiopia. The goal of this project is to build a sustainable, resilient, and interoperable health information ecosystem that ensures the entire health sector has the data, tools, and skills necessary to improve the health and well-being of all Ethiopians. The follow-on activity will build on USAID’s current work in Ethiopia to deploy and scale digital tools, enhance data-driven decision-making, and strengthen capacity of Ethiopian partners to utilize digital health systems. The DCOP will work closely with the COP to provide strategic direction and oversee the daily technical activities and project implementation. The DCOP will supervise project implementation and ensure that the project meets stated goals and reporting requirements. This position will be based in Ethiopia. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support to the COP in day-to-day technical management of the activity; including support to overall leadership, management, administrative, and technical direction;
  • Lead and supervise teams for the efficient planning, coordination, development, implementation, and tracking of activities and the successful implementation of program deliverables;
  • Ensure effective coordination of the program activities with budget/finance, grants, procurement, and operations departments;
  • Oversee staff development and capacity building, including continuous training;
  • Serve as liaison with both USAID and Chemonics support departments located in Washington D.C., perform other duties as assigned; and
  • Serve as Acting COP as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in public health, digital health, international health, business management/administration, or in a related field;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in public health, preferably in digital health, data use, and/or health programs;
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in project management using administrative, technical and analytical skills, personnel management, and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Strong skills in data use and interpretation;
  • Adaptive mindset with proven experience in continuous quality improvement across programming;
  • Familiarity of USAID rules and regulations, compliance, reporting requirements, and grant management; knowledge of Chemonics’ procedures preferred;
  • Fluent English oral and written communication skills; and
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
