JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Officer will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s financial operations and ensuring efficient financial management. This position involves managing budgets, financial reporting, compliance, and collaborating closely with other teams within MedGlobal to achieve our mission effectively.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management:
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures in line with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget, working closely with department heads to ensure accurate and realistic projections.
- Monitor and control expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary limits.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers.
- Prepare financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform regular financial analysis to identify trends and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
Accounting:
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Process invoices, expense reports, and reimbursements.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure an accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Assist with the annual financial audit process and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
Cash Flow Management:
o Monitor cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for ongoing operations.
- Forecast cash needs and recommend appropriate actions.
- Manage banking relationships and coordinate international financial transactions.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Stay up to date with changes in financial regulations and ensure organizational compliance.
- Identify financial risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Maintain and update the organization’s insurance policies.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial guidance and support.
- Provide training and support for staff regarding financial policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Accounting/Economic or related field
- A minimum of 3-5 of relevant experience working for INGO in finance, accounting in managerial positions.
- Knowledge of international donors’ major compliance rules and regulations
- Strong spreadsheet and data analysis advanced skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel, any accounting software, using software would be an advantage)
- Knowledge of financial controlling / audits considered an asset
- Dynamic, motivated and flexible self-starter leader with creative problem-solving skills
- Cultural sensitivity
- Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English and Arabic
- Working skill in a clinical setting
- Demonstrated experience of working closely with financial/accounting departments of the government, Health Sector and experience of working with a large complex multi-partner team.
- Understanding of accounting principles of NGO and public sector and national health system issues is an advantage.
- Effective presentation of relevant information (oral & written)
- Willingness to travel (at least 10% of time) in field areas,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and Google sui
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively within teams.
- Strong negotiation and organization skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work in fast-paced environments, and meet competing deadlines
