The Opportunity:

The intervention supports Syrian refugee and host community adolescent and young adults as rights holders and builds their capacity to act as active citizens to claim their sexual and reproductive health rights including accessing sexual and reproductive services. The project seeks to empower girls and young women, supported by boys and young men, to take informed decisions with regards to their lives and bodies as well as about if, whom and when to marry or get children. The Project will enable access to SRHR information and services to Syrians (refugees) and Egyptians adolescents’ girls and young women, especially those who are survivors of SGBV.

Responsibilities:

The Project coordinator position, will provide overall managerial support to this project, he/she will be closely coordinating the project activities with community-based implementing partners, other relevant government departments and also liaison with the UNFPA – United Nations Population Fund country office representative/s

The Project coordinator is also expected to ensure that Plan Egypt’s relevant policies on gender, child protection, monitoring and evaluation and team security management are embedded into the project implementation plans.

Responsibilities also include:
Leadership role

  • Lead the coordination with the relevant PUs staff, ensuring that the project is implemented within the ambit of the strategic objectives of Plan Egypt’s Country Strategic Plan-2015-2020.
  • Collaborate with the team members of other DRM projects within Greater Cairo, Alexandria, Damietta and other parts of the country in developing synergies, fostering cross learning and sharing knowledge resources.

Networking and Advocacy

  • Build and foster relationships with local level government departments/officials and collaborating partners for efficient project implementation.
  • Coordinate with UNFPA and represent Plan in meetings and deliberations in relevant networks.

Budget and Project Implementation’s management

  • Set up and ensure well-functioning community-based M&E systems to effectively monitor the project implementation.
  • Ensure that the budget planning and implementation of action plan are done with the maximum level of quality and in tandem with the project objectives.
  • Support the development of the Projects Outlines (PO) in SAP, ensuring their alignment with the projects’ approved budget and donor’s guidelines.
  • Support the Finance Department to generate the required financial reports that inform the projects’ team members on the progress of expenditure.

Do you have what it takes?

In order to succeed in this challenging and varied role you will require proven professional experience gained within a humanitarian or refugee context is essential.

Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:

  • 3-5 years exp. In relevant position
  • A degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or related discipline.
  • Prior experience of working on sexual and reproductive health rights projects, in INGO will be an asset.
  • Good knowledge of field based monitoring and relationship building.
  • Excellent English language writing and speaking skills
  • Excellent Project management, reports writing skills and strong facilitation skills
  • Ability to deliver briefings and trainings for a variety of audiences;
  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
