Are you passionate about advocacy for humanitarian operations in remote, conflict-affected areas? DanChurchAid (DCA) is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Professional Officer to join our Coordination Unit in Juba. This role supports multiple humanitarian agencies in complex contexts by strengthening coordination and information-sharing efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advocacy & Analysis: Generate impactful advocacy messages, research legal frameworks, analyze adherence to humanitarian standards, and report on security and humanitarian developments.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, lead coordination meetings, and support local partners in advocacy strategy development.
  • Organization & Communication: Keep tasks organized, provide regular updates, and ensure clear communication with program stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s in law, humanitarian affairs, political science, or related field; postgraduate degree is an advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in humanitarian aid, with at least 1 year of international experience in research, analysis, and advocacy.
  • Skills:
    • Proven expertise in policy development, advocacy planning, and handling politically sensitive communication.
    • Solid understanding of the political and humanitarian landscape in conflict-affected countries.
    • Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical abilities.
    • Excellent English skills: knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Attributes:
    • Effective in multicultural environments with respect for diversity.
    • Organized, able to work independently, and manage tight deadlines.
    • Willingness to travel to remote areas as required.

Our Role In The Act Alliance

With a Secretariat of only 20 staff to support the 110 members working in 130 countries, it is clear that the work and input from members is the key to establishing and maintaining ACT as a unity.

It is highly prioritised in DCA to contribute to building a strong alliance. Therefore, we invest a lot of time in being active and committed participants at various levels: Our General Secretary is member of the Governing Board; we are full members in four working groups and observers in five others; our regional offices are always instrumental in the national and regional ACT Forums; the majority of our emergency work is done with other ACT members; and as an organisation we always give input to new policies as well as relevant technical guidelines.
