Overview of position:
This position is in Medical Supply Chain Management dividion & the consultant will be under the Medical Services Section of our client. S / he will be based in Mission Head Quarters (MHQ) in Bamako.

Within delegated authority & under the overall supervision of the Chief Medical Officer & the direct supervision of Medical Supply Chain & Logistics Unit, the Biomedical Technician will be responsible for the following duties:
Installs, maintains & calibrates medical equipment in the UN medical facilities & ambulances in order to ensure occupational safety & environmental protection.
Maintains & calibrates various electrical medical equipment in the UN medical facilities in order to improve diagnostic accuracy & efficiency in treatment.
Performs testing, troubleshooting & repairs of medical equipment & devices.
Trains & educates end users on how to optimally operate medical devices.
Drafts SOP’s on medical equipment use & precautions.
Prepares reports on testing, calibration & repair of medical equipment.
Manages all medical assets registration on their priority groups & recommends asset disposal methods.
Responds to emergency calls & assists Medical Officers in providing adequate care.
Coordinates movement of patients within & outside the mission.
Ensures effective liaison between the Mission’s Medical Cell & other Sections in the mission such as Supply, MovCon, Aviation Security, MSC, Transport, etc.
Work in the walk in clinic providing support.
Performs other related duties as required by the UN.

Project reporting:
This role will work under the overall supervision of the Chief Medical Officer & the direct supervision of Medical Supply Chain & Logistics Unit.

Key competencies:
High school or equivalent diploma in medical field / biomedical technology is required, a university degree in mathematics ,electrical engineering or related field is highly desirable with at least 7 years of progressive experience as a Biomedical Technician or related area.
Experience in a UN peacekeeping or in an international organization is highly desirable.
English & French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral & written English is required.
