Background:

Farsight Africa Group is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer Consultant to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya. The successful candidate will provide engineering expertise and support for various infrastructure projects, ensuring high standards of design, construction, and compliance with local regulations.

Objective:
To provide technical expertise in civil engineering, oversee project implementation, and ensure quality control for infrastructure projects, including roads, buildings, and other public works.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engineering Design & Documentation:
    • Develop detailed civil engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for various projects.
    • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and cost estimates.
    • Ensure designs comply with project requirements, local regulations, and safety standards.
  2. Site Supervision & Project Management:
    • Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress and ensure construction adheres to design specifications.
    • Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders to address any issues that arise during construction.
    • Provide technical guidance to site teams, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
  3. Stakeholder Coordination:
    • Engage with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to gather project requirements and provide engineering guidance.
    • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and provide technical input as needed.
  4. Quality Assurance & Control:
    • Implement quality control measures and conduct inspections to ensure project quality and safety.
    • Review and approve construction materials and work methodologies to meet project specifications.
  5. Reporting & Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit regular progress reports, technical documentation, and project updates to the Senior Project Manager.
    • Maintain organized records of all project documentation, including design changes and site instructions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Professional registration or certification is an advantage.
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, including design and site supervision.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project).
    • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and safety standards.
    • Excellent communication and project management skills.
    • Fluent in English (spoken, reading, and writing).

Deliverables:

  • Complete civil engineering designs, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Regular site supervision reports highlighting progress, quality, and safety.
  • Technical documentation, including cost estimates, material approvals, and inspection reports.
  • Comprehensive project progress reports and updates.
