Child protection is key in all that we do. Plan International Zambia has Programme Areas (PAs) in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.

Position Description:

The purpose of Community Development Facilitator is to collect and submit communication data of items such as, photos, sponsor gift/letter response, welcome greeting communication for processing and dispatching (hard copy or digital); ensure the integration of sponsorship and program implementation, ensure the integration of sponsorship; and Work with Community leaders and Community Volunteers (CV) to facilitate sponsorship production process.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and submit communication data of items such as, photos, sponsor gift/letter response, welcome greeting communication for processing and dispatching (hard copy or digital).
  • Ensure the delivery of gifts to Sponsored Children (SC) /families against signature and ensure that SC/family write their own response letters to sponsor if they can write.
  • Ensure the production and review of sponsorship communication items and questionnaires against the expected quality and standards.
  • Timely and quality production of sponsorship communication items as per the to-do-list and production schedules produced by the Sponsorship and Communication Department.
  • Review reasons of cancellations to ensure truthfulness and completeness of information; and timely preparation of new or sibling replacements after cancellation.
  • Notify death and relocation of Sponsored Children to immediate supervisor in a timely way and as per Plan’s internal guideline.
  • Attend to inquiries about sponsored children as requested by immediate supervisor.
  • Facilitate the production of regular and corporate sponsorship communications in each community in collaboration with the assigned team.
  • Ensure the integration of sponsorship and program implementation.
  • Facilitate Plan’s representation at the grassroots/community level by facilitating the implementation of programs and projects and mobilizing community on programs and projects.
  • Forward concerns and inquiries from the community to immediate supervisor in relation to development needs and provide feedback to the community.
  • Community orientation on Safeguarding Children & Young People policy and reporting and responding guidelines.
  • Work with Community leaders and Community Volunteers to facilitate sponsorship production process; and Provide feedback and sponsorship trainings to CVs.
  • Serve as a point person at community/village level in any partner managed events to maximize Plan’s visibility, including participation in community meetings.
  • Facilitating effective participation of children, families, communities and stakeholders in programme activities.
  • Notify medical cases of sponsored children to immediate supervisor.
  • Handle sponsor’s pre-visit arrangements of respective sponsored children and families and accompany sponsor’s visit as required.
  • Regularly inform Sponsorship and Program Staff at the Program Areas, with regards to any changes, developments, success stories etc.
  • Ensures that Programme staff are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies.
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in project design, during implementation and as principles applied in day-to-day work of Programme team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Social Sciences, Social Work, Development Studies, Child Psychology, Education or related discipline.
  • 2 years relevant work experience in similar environment
  • Experience in developing and implementing influencing and campaign strategies
  • Experience in strategic public engagement and mobilization.
  • Demonstrated and considerable experience of working with international media, communications or public relations roles
  • A good record of achieving results and strategic impact for teams to deliver
