Topic – consultancy to conduct a gender and conflict analysis along the coast of Liberia
Key tasks:
To inform the formation of BOP strategies, the consultant is responsible to work closely with CI-L staff to gather relevant information on circular economy approaches addressing marine pollution, including a desk-based analysis of how to reduce the influx of plastics to coastal and marine waters, with a field visit to refine the assumptions and allow for meetings with in-country staff, partners and relevant stakeholders.
The consultant will perform the following tasks:
- Identify types and sources of plastics along the coast
- Document existing plans and commitments on plastic waste management
- Identify, rank, and promote best practices for the reuse and recycling of plastics by small scale industries
- Provide technical guidance related to a ban on problematic single use plastics
- Recommend proven environmentally friendly alternatives to single use plastics
Qualification:
- Master’s degree in waste management, environmental science/ engineering, pollution control or related field
- Demonstrated technical knowledge in pollution, waste management and marine issues
- Proven track record of performing feasibility studies
- Familiarity with the plastics supply chains, Liberia background is a plus
- Proven ability to proactively engage with a range of relevant stakeholders to ensure inclusion of all necessary partners
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- Professionalism: flexibility to make ad-hoc changes as and when the need arises; ability to perform under stress; willingness to keep flexible working hours.
