Background

The Direction Nationale de l’Enseignement (DNE), the headquarters of the Eglise Evangélique du Cameroun, runs schools throughout the country and enjoys an excellent reputation. It is contacted by schools all over Cameroon interested in training on innovative pedagogical concepts, participatory teaching methods, promotion of autonomy and responsibility, and non-violent communication. DNE is looking for an international professional to train and motivate its staff in good governance and financial management. The finance and accounting system is supported by software across the country. DNE wants to ensure that its staff have sound knowledge in the use of this software and develop an impact-oriented perspective on finance and accounting systems.

Additional option: Your involvement in staff recruitment and selection, including the introduction of guidelines where possible.

Your contribution: As an international professional, you will help to make the vision of good governance a reality and inspire DNE staff to embrace this important idea.

You will be located in Douala, Cameroon.

Job Scope

You contribute to the safe use of the financial software throughout the country by strengthening the competences of managers and colleagues through demand-oriented training. You will use your creative adult education methods and tools to raise awareness in good governance and planning, monitoring and evaluation, as well as to update skills in balance sheet accounting.

In more detail, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Identify potentials and propose further development opportunities
  • Use creative methods and instruments for appropriate staff development
  • Conception and implementation of training courses for managers and colleagues
  • Participation in monitoring and evaluation of the administrative and financial software
  • Providing expert advice on good governance, planning, monitoring and evaluation

Profile

  • A relevant degree (at least Bachelor)
  • Expertise in financial/accounting systems and software
  • Knowledge in planning, monitoring and evaluation as well as good governance
  • Good written and spoken French
  • Strong analytical and systemic thinking skills
  • Pleasure in supporting colleagues and learning from each other
  • Trustworthiness, cultural sensitivity and interest in the education sector
  • Openness and motivation for social integration into the Cameroonian culture

Flexibility for business trips is required.

Citizenship of a Member State of the European Union or Switzerland is required.
