Role Summary

Lead Medair’s Ebola health response in Ituri, focusing on support of communities and Health Facilities around IPC, surveillance, referral of suspected cases. and strengthening the integration of the health activities in collaboration with Community Engagement and MHPSS activities.

Project Overview

Ebola outbreak has been declared on 15th of May 2026 in Ituri province. Medair is planning to implement specific pillars of the response to the outbreak, including Infection Prevention control, Case Management, Surveillance, RCCE and MHPSS.

Responsibilities:

• In strict collaboration with the Health Advisor and the Health PM for the normal activities (non-Ebola related), develop/manage a comprehensive activity plan covering the time frame of the project proposal

• Oversee all staff based in the health project including recruitment, appraisal, management, general well-being, job descriptions, work schedules, discipline etc. in coordination with the Projects Coordinator.

• To be responsible for the safety and security of Medair health assets and personnel on site of operations

• To coordinate with the logistics department and ensure all health project related equipment and medical/PPE/WASH supplies for the ETC are available on site in a timely fashion. To ensure quality of medical care according to WHO and national guidelines.

• To coordinate with the administration department to ensure accurate accounting of project finances as well as effective cash-flow

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies:

• Medical Doctor preferably specialized in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Infectious diseases.

• Minimum 3 years of post-qualification professional experience.

• Fluency in French is an asset but not a mandatory requirement.

• Public health and/or infectious disease degree is an asset

• Experience as Project Manager is an asset

• 1-year overseas experience in relief work with an NGO, having worked in the health sector desirable. Experience in Ebola/VHF or infectious disease outbreaks strongly preferred.

Behavioural Skills

• Strong servant leadership skills with a consultative management style

• Creative, open-minded, flexible, self-learner, with good understanding of cross-cultural issues

• Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels

• Able to oversee multiple tasks, prioritising and delegating as required
