NRC has operated in Mali since 2013. From our four field offices in Mali, Gao, Timbuktu, Mopti, Menaka and Kidal, NRC strives to meet the basic needs of people affected by violence and displacement. We provide education, shelter, food security and livelihood, and give people legal assistance. We also have a dedicated emergency response mechanism.

The purpose of the Education Specialist position is technical development of the specific Core Competence (CC), strategic direction and quality assurance. The Education Specialist is responsible for mentoring, training and capacity build staff on Education technical capacity.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop Education strategy, technical guidance and Macro LFAs
Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
Contribute to fundraising, develop and revise funding proposal, budgets and donor reports
Identify trends technical standards and donor priorities
Follow up on compliance with contractual commitments within Education, ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation
Ensure Education programs evolves to remain relevant to the changing context
Ensure that Education programs address both programmatic and relevant policy issues
Ensure harmonization and consistency across education projects implemented
Ensure appropriate assessments and needs analyses
Ensure Strategic project / programme planning, resource mobilisation (including contributing to proposal writing/development, project reviews, budgets) and revising the project/programme as necessary throughout the project and programme life cycles
Consolidate and develop internal and external reports and other materials;
Take the lead on quality project deliverables reporting (GORS: output and outcome level), with support from area project teams and M&E team

Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of experience within education technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context
Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Education expertise : development of strategy, capacity building, quality
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Fluency in French and English, both written and verbal
Valid driver’s license
