Development Expertise Lab (DEL) is currently preparing a proposal for a large-scale face-to-face quantitative survey in Sudan and is seeking to identify qualified Field Coordinator profiles to be included in its application. The Field Coordinator will supervise a team of enumerators in one or more states and will serve as the main link between the field teams and the DEL project team.
Contract Duration: short-term consultancy, covering preparation, training, pilot, and data collection over September-December 2026.
Main Responsibilities
The Field Coordinator will be in charge of:
- Supporting the DEL project team in obtaining the necessary local authorisations and approvals
- Supporting the recruitment and selection of enumerators, for approval by the research team
- Contributing to the survey implementation plan, the sampling strategy, and the enumerator training programme, in coordination with the DEL project team
- Supervising the day-to-day work of the enumerator team, monitoring daily productivity, and ensuring adherence to the sampling protocol in the field
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the enumeration team, including implementation of the security protocol and immediate reporting of any security incidents
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated experience supervising teams of enumerators on large-scale quantitative surveys in Sudan
- Based in Sudan, with the ability to travel within the assigned state(s)
- Knowledge of the local context, security situation, and cultural sensitivities in the assigned state(s)
- Native or fluent speaker of Arabic (required), with excellent command of Sudanese Arabic; knowledge of other local languages or dialects is a strong asset
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Experience with computer-assisted interviewing software; experience with SurveyCTO is a strong asset
- Experience working with civil society organisations and humanitarian actors is an asset
- University degree
