Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has an internship program aimed at increasing opportunities for under-represented groups and increasing diversity in the workforce. Interns will receive a modest monthly stipend. Other details will be shared if you are selected for an interview in mid-January.
We anticipate a start date on March 1st, 2025, and an internship duration of six months.
The internship position we anticipate recruiting for is the following: Finance / Accounting (3 Positions in Yaoundé,1 in Bamenda)

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Finance Intern (1 Position in Bamenda):
  • Develop skills in using financial software and tools for data analysis.
  • Learn to manage and analyze large datasets to support financial decision-making.
  • Improve the ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Learn to prepare and deliver presentations on financial topics.
  • Understand the fundamental principles of accounting.
  • Assist with bookkeeping and the preparation of financial reports.

Financial Reporting:

  • Learn the process of preparing and presenting financial reports.
  • Understand regulatory requirements and compliance issues related to financial reporting

Financial Statement Analysis:

  • Review and analyze partner financial reports.
  • Prepare ICIP for partner and follow up.

Budget Preparation and Monitoring:

  • Assist in the development of partner budgets.
  • Track actual expenses against the budget and report variances.

    Accounting Support:

  • Help with daily bookkeeping tasks, such as recording transactions and reconciling accounts.
  • Assist in the review of partner monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Ensure that financial practices adhere to legal standards

    2. Finance – Grant and Compliance Intern (1 Position in Yaoundé):

  • The Grant and Compliance intern will be part of a team which accompanies CRS partners in the process of ameliorating their systems. The intern shall gain knowledge on minimum policy requirements for good financial management.
  • Assist in analyzing partner financial report.
  • Follow up CRS partnership recommendations.
  • Follow up activies for action plan for partners.
  • Participate in update partners manual and procedure.
  • Participate in the development of partner financial management tools.
  • Understand basic donor requirements in Grant Management.
  • Support processing of partner financial reports and archiving of compliance reports (SRFMP, FMV, etc.)
  • Ensure completeness of Grant and Compliance reports in various shared folders.

    3. Finance – General Ledger Intern (2 positions in Yaoundé)

  • Archiving of supporting documents submitted to the department.
  • Work to ensure that we have all the support documents missing from the various bundles.
  • Ensure that the process currently in place complies with requirements.
  • Prepare supports for the various payments.
  • Place supporting documents for each specific period and Identify archive boxes by period.
  • Cancel all supporting documents (Stamp Paid or Process).
  • Learn CRS accounting and financial management procedures and policies management
  • Practical training in monthly closing activities.
  • Reconciliation between OHADA and US GAAP accounting.
  • Participation in the control of supporting documents:
  • Analysis of document conformity and Participation in the creation of supporting documents and the use of Insight
  • Participation in the processing of liquidations and advances made by staffs
  • MAD (Mise à disposition) management: registration in the register and dispatching
  • Participation in weekly cash count management and bank reconciliation.
  • Responsible for cancelling and archiving these documents in accordance with CRS procedures.

    Qualifications and Experience: bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics or any related field.

    Languages: Proficient in both English and French or Proficient in French with English intermediate
