Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Head of Finance / Finance Manager

Job Summary

  • The Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring compliance with internal policies and statutory regulations.
  • The ideal candidate will assist in budgeting, financial reporting, and day-to-day financial management activities, contributing to the efficiency and integrity of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Support payroll preparation and related financial documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports in compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and support audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Keep abreast of financial regulations, tax laws, and best practices relevant to the organization.
  • Liaise with banks, vendors, and relevant regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Support donor reporting and project accounting activities (if applicable).
  • Contribute to improving the internal control environment and promoting financial accountability.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CPA is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial management or accounting.
  • Working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, financial regulations, and IFRS.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems).
  • Strong skills in MS Excel and basic financial analysis.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a donor-funded or non-profit organisation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with project finance and multi-currency accounting is an advantage.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
