In Nairobi, JRS is working with Urban refugees and other persons of concern in 3 main areas: Education, Sustainable livelihood, and MHPSS/Protection while in Kakuma Refugee Camp focussing on Education, Integrated psychosocial inclusive Education programme in Centres and Safe Shelters.
JRS was Founded in November 1980 as a work of the Society of Jesus, JRS was officially registered on 19 March 2000 in Vatican City as a foundation.
JRS is present in over 56 countries worldwide, providing services to more than 811,884 individuals. The work is overseen by 10 regional offices with support from the International Office in Rome.
Operational Context/Role
JRS is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of farm assistant to oversee the agribusiness project within the livelihood department. The incumbent will report to the Livelihood Coordinator.
Reporting to the Livelihood Coordinator, the Firm Assistant will be based in Nairobi office. This is a fixed term contract typefor One (1) Year with possibility for extension subject to availability of funds and individual performance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Mikono farm:
- To be the field focal point and support in the training of JRS beneficiaries in the agribusiness project in liaison with the livelihood’s coordinator on modern farming techniques
- Carry out needs assessment and advice to the office on the needs of the beneficiaries to ensure the programs are relevant.
- To support the livelihood department in follow up and monitoring of beneficiaries.
- Mentor and assist the beneficiaries draw up a six-month farming plan and production and revenue forecast.
- Maintain accurate records of the beneficiaries, and all activities in the agribusiness project.
- Conduct beneficiaries need assessments, including home visits and make recommendation to the office on the same.
- Perform any other lawful duty assigned by authorities in JRS.
2. Livelihood Project Support:
- Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of JRS livelihood projects.
- Support in the facilitate community meetings and workshops to gather feedback and enhance participation in livelihood projects.
- Support in needs assessments, including home visits and make recommendation to the office on the same.
- Perform any other lawful duty assigned by authorities in JRS.
3. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and local regulations.
Person Specification – Essential Requirements
Qualification
- A diploma or bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Agronomy, Agriculture, Development studies, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience for degree holders and 4 years for diploma holders working with refugees and disadvantaged sections of the community.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of livelihoods-based development and emergency responses operations.

Salary Level
- This position is graded at job Group 5.
- KES 96,609 Gross per month.
