Purpose of the position

The Communication Coordinator will work under the Supervision of Livelihood & Nutrition TP Head; functionally reporting to  Communication & Eternal Relation manager and will be responsible for ensuring media and communication strategies of the technical program and projects under it are in place. Primarily he/she will also serve as communication lead to GIZ FMNR project. The communication coordinator engages in the development and dissemination of promotional materials and documenting and communicating the various learnings, successes, stories of the technical program activities for national-level key stakeholders to support advocacy and media interventions and awareness creation to raise commitment on different livelihoods and Environment and climate change interventions among key decision-makers & technical leads.

Moreover, the coordinator will do the final editing, review & design of communication materials for e-platforms and training and orientation materials that the program will produce for use in program implementation.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

·         Create and establish effective communication strategies of the GIZ FMNR project and technical program in accordance with the communication strategy of the national office.

·         Work closely with project managers, technical leads, and Communication and External relation team to increase the visibility of primarily the FMNR scaling up the project and following ILaNS visibility within the partnership through different mediums, such as connection, regional newsletter etc, initiating or accompanying field visits to showcase the impact of projects, formatting, packaging, and submission of program initiatives for donor view in close collaboration with projects as well as SO staff

·         Play a key role in the identification, capturing, distributing, sharing of best practices and success stories

·         Work on editing and formatting of the different training and orientation materials prepared by the technical program before final printing and distribution

·         Create and manage standardized templates related to information gathering/synthesis, public communication and other purposes (e.g., narrative, graphic presentation, mapping, etc.)

·         Produce a summary for a quick update on key program activities for an update in e-platforms that includes website and social media, etc.

·         Review quarterly progress report and annual donor report  before sending to donors to ensure quality

·         Support project  staff in organizing and managing seminars, workshops, press conferences and support in producing a summary report of the events

·         Maintain well-organized project/ILaNS  information, learning documentation, and communication filing/ database

Job Requirements

·         The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training:

·         Have at least MA/BA Degree in Media and Journalism, Communications, English Language, and other related fields,

·         Minimum of 5 years’ experience in documentation and communication work of development programs – preferable in the health and related sector

·         Having livelihoods, food security and rural development   or related background is a plus

·         Proven experience in documentation, production of communication materials

·         Strong English communication skills, both interpersonal and written

·         Photo and video-editing skills
