Objectives

To contribute to and implement the strategy for promoting the inclusion of communities and people with disabilities, and the DEI framework

Main responsibilities

1. Communication for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities (PWD)

• Analyse data, identify trends, areas for improvement and opportunities to develop communication on inclusion.

• Collect, organise and design content for inclusion-related communication channels, primarily the website. Develop posters, guides and other relevant materials.

• Ensure regular updates to the inclusion portal and publicise these updates by drafting and distributing the newsletter (usually every 2 to 3 months), using our mailing lists and other relevant distribution channels.

• Collaborate with the Head of the MSF Inclusion Hub at MSF Norway and the Mobile Inclusive Operations Officer to identify a strategy for promoting inclusion

• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for communication on inclusion.

• Produce a quarterly report on the performance of the website and other communication materials relating to inclusion, and make recommendations to improve visibility, accessibility and usage.

2. Community Inclusion in Communication and DEI

• Contribute to the definition and development of policies relating to the implementation of community inclusion;

• Define what community inclusion entails and how it is translated into practice in communication and advocacy work; and ensure that communities are introduced and promoted within MSF WaCA/Akwaba.

• Ensure liaison and collaboration with operational projects in the field relating to inclusion

• Carry out field visits to support inclusion initiatives.

• Design and disseminate content for various internal platforms to raise awareness of the code of conduct for photography, video and editorial content in the field.

• Identify opportunities for communication on safeguarding and DEI policies

• Monitor trends, practices and opportunities Support regular internal campaigns to reinforce the organisation’s commitments to safeguarding and DEI

• Collaborate with the safeguarding team to create educational materials (e-learning modules, practical guides)

3. Support for digital and internal communications

• Provide general support for digital communications to develop approaches tailored to the organisation’s communication objectives as required.

• Support the dissemination of internal messages via internal channels within MSF WaCA/Akwaba and the MSF Movement

· A degree in communication, social sciences, political science or a related field.

Professional experience required

· At least three years’ professional experience in communications or public relations.

· Previous professional experience in community management, implementing digital communication strategies, and producing multimedia content, particularly on social issues.

· Knowledge of website design, updating websites and publishing content in an inclusive manner, and social media communication.

· Experience in communication ethics and DEI

· Experience in writing articles

· Experience of working with international NGOs

Languages Skills

· Working proficiency in English and French (Required)

Computer Skills

· MS Office suite (mainly MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

· Website development and maintenance platforms CMS
