Position Summary
The Community Development Intern (CDI) will support the Dja landscape and particularly the Community Officer in ensuring the successful implementation of activities of Community Development projects in the Dja. The CDI will assist with different AWF projects in the planification, realization, and monitoring of activities, especially on nurseries and agroforestry plantations development and management. He/she will also give support to communities for the valorization of Non-Timber Forest Products (organization of training, awareness-raising, market research, and regular monitoring of activities), and the development of agroforestry initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support with the planification, realization, and reporting of the community’s development activities (awareness raising, training, group structuration, etc.).
- Support with nursery development, management, and monitoring.
- Support with agroforest plantations development, management, and monitoring.
- Assist in the development of training modules and capacity-building facilitation sessions.
- Provide support for the structuration of producer groups (NTFP collectors and owners of agroforestry plantations) and income-generating activities development
- Provide support in the logistical preparation and organization of workshops, training and sensitization sessions, exchange visits, etc.
- Participate in site coordination meetings and the capitalization of experience.
- Assist in the production and dissemination of communications material to partners.
- Perform other additional activities Task as requested by the Technical Advisor.
Requirements and skills

- A bachelor’s in agriculture, Crop production, Forestry, Anthropology, and social science field related to conservation and development (Development, Project Management, Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management).
- Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training and other formal and non-formal methods.
- Experience in organizing and collecting socio-economic data and working with communities
- Ability to work effectively in remote and challenging areas, in cross-cultural situations, and in multicultural environments.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel to remote and sometimes physically challenging locations
- Self-organized and having own initiatives.
- French and English speaking.
- Good writing, synthesis, and organizational skills
- Computer skills (MS Office)
