Location:        Pretoria or any WaterAid Southern Africa Country
Deadline:        13 July 2020
Start date:      This is an interim role, as such the successful candidate should ideally be available to take up the role , no later than  03 August, 2020 or should be able to start sooner.
Duration:        Six months

WaterAid is an international development organisation whose mission is to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation to the world’s poorest communities. We are looking to recruit an Interim Regional Advocacy Manager – Southern Africa to play a vital role in our mission.

As the Interim Regional Advocacy Manager (RAM), you will provide thought leadership and manage regional advocacy initiatives, policy analysis and research. WaterAid is looking for a motivated individual who understands how to inspire and provoke change.

You will have an understanding of technical, social and institutional issues relating to water, sanitation and hygiene in developing countries. You must be knowledgeable of development policies, especially in the Water and Sanitation sector with senior level experience of action research and policy analysis, preferably in an international agency based in the region. An understanding and knowledge of rights based approaches and programming would be essential. Experience and knowledge of addressing key current thematic trends such as health system strengthening and climate change will be an advantage.

You will have a Postgraduate / Masters’ Degree in Development Studies, Political Science, Public Policy / Administration or equivalent with a demonstrable commitment to poverty reduction and social justice. Fluency in English with the understanding of French and Portuguese is an added advantage.You will have proven experience of advocacy and campaigns work in the region.

You will be expected to contribute to our service delivery work and draw from it for advocacy and influencing work, exploring regional collaborative opportunities around programme delivery and advocating for change in how WASH is delivered in the region to bring about equitable and permanent change to poor and marginalized people.

You will report directly to the Regional Director and maintain strong professional and functional relationships with global Heads of Policy and Campaigns, Policy Teams in Country Programmes (CPs), WaterAid members and works to support the Pan Africa Manager (PAM) on Africa influencing.
