About the Role

As the Internal Channels Management Associate in Global Communications, you will lead strategic development for our primary intranet/platform, internal communication tools and facilitate the strategy for global internal communications. You will lead the project to build a newly acquired intranet according to the needs of main internal clients. You will hold responsibility for the overall visual design, site navigation, site content, engagement and training of users, coordination with key stakeholders and oversight of the relevant technology.

You will report directly to the Global Director of Internal Communications and may manage 1 or more staffers as you grow in the role.

Responsibilities

  • Content strategy:
    • Work with executive/leadership teams to ensure all staff are informed and engaged on the organizational intranet and internal communications channels.
    • Develop internal communication channel strategies based on target audiences, market research, and business plans.
    • Set internal communication standards across the main organizational channels, collaborating with executive team to ensure these are understood and upheld.
    • Be the main administrator for all content on the intranet and oversee other administrators, ensuring they uphold best practices
  • Project & Stakeholder Management:
    • Manage team and other stakeholders, including content owners, to deliver high quality planned content and ensure it remains up to date
    • Manage interactions between any vendors and Tech on any technical matters e.g. prioritizing integrations, coordinating necessary processes such as implementations and upgrades with the vendor and Tech, and organizing any testing
    • Develop main internal communication channels, adapting and improving them according to our needs.
    • Work diplomatically across teams and divisions to provide direction on internal communication efforts, ensuring achievement of cultural growth and audience goals.
    • Work well independently and collaboratively.
    • Engender trust and demonstrate ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and care

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 2 to 5 years of experience managing and implementing intranets or collaboration software
  • Familiarity with Google Suite
  • High level of comfort with social software and other web-based technologies
  • Experience leading a team toward a common goal, holding accountable the execution of strategy.
  • Experience defining expected results and accomplishing them by working with and through others.
  • Excellent project and stakeholder management skills, including managing the vendor and internal tech team when adding new integrations

One Acre Fund is a nonprofit organization that supplies smallholder farmers in East Africa with asset-based financing and agriculture training services to reduce hunger and poverty. Headquartered in Bungoma, Kenya, the organization works with farmers in rural villages throughout Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, and Malawi.

Using a market-based approach, One Acre Fund facilitates activities and transactions at various levels of the farming value chain, including seed sourcing and market support. In 2015, farmers who worked with One Acre Fund realized a 300% return on their investment and significantly increased farm income on every planted acre.

One Acre Fund offers smallholder farmers an asset-based loan that includes: 1) distribution of seeds and fertilizer; 2) financing for farm inputs; 3) training on agriculture techniques; and 4) market facilitation to maximize profits. Each service bundle is around US$80 in value and includes crop insurance to mitigate the risks of drought and disease.

To receive the One Acre Fund loan and training, farmers must join a village group that is supported by a local One Acre Fund field officer. Field officers meet regularly with the farmer groups to coordinate delivery of farm inputs, administer trainings and to collect repayments. One Acre Fund offers a flexible repayment system: farmers may pay back their loans in any increment at any time during the growing season. Beyond their core program model, One Acre Fund also offers smallholder farmers opportunities to purchase additional products and services on credit. These include solar lights and reusable sanitary pads.
