Job Summary

skilled midwives to provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to Samaritan’s Purse obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the implementation and continuity of and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care, neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, simple gynecological complaints and Fistula care in accordance with Samaritan’s Purse protocols.
  • Assessing the feasibility for referral of pregnant women.
  • Ensuring hygiene and sterilization criteria.
  • Performing cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment.
  • Properly following up all newborn babies from delivery until discharge
  • Ensuring patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality is respected
  • Participating in the organization of the ward in collaboration with other midwifes and the maternity ward supervisor

Job Requirements

Education / Experience Needed

  • Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nursing
  • At least 2 Years experience (Midwifery)

Skills Required

  • Essential midwifery qualification or specialization.
  • Desirable Oromifa and English language
  • Desirable previous experience in INGOs
