Are you experienced in security management and analysis in insecure environments?

An exciting new opportunity has arisen within Tearfund’s Eurasia and North Africa and West Africa Team in the role as Multi Regional Safety, Security and Access Manager With a strong preference for a national candidate this role may be based in the successful candidate’s country of origin or where Tearfund has a right to work within ENA.

The post holder will ensure the systematic application of safety and security risk management practices across all of Tearfund’s operational areas and regional office in the region of Eurasia North Africa (ENA/WA/WA) and West Africa (currently Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Jordan Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, Chad, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire). They will achieve this through the assessment and analysis of threats, the maintenance and updating of safety and security plans and procedures, and the provision of advice to manage risk. The post holder will deliver training and briefings, coaching staff and partners, respond to and manage critical incidents; and undertake regular monitoring field visits to country programmes. Policies, procedures and approaches will be effectively contextualised, taking into account Tearfund’s specific values and characteristics.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in:

  • Working in an insecure environment in a security position
  • Have relevant security training, such as HEAT or equivalent
  • Experience of conducting security analysis within an insecure environment and demonstrated examples of how programming has adapted as a result
  • Providing dynamic, helpful and clear advice and recommendations to key decision makers
  • Have the ability to work under pressure

Candidates must also have excellent English communication skills, written and oral, are required, with additional Arabic being desirable.

This role will be based in one of the following countries: Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon or Pakistan within ENA and Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, Chad, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire within WA with frequent travel. Salary will be dependent on location.

Tearfund is a UK Christian relief and development agency which works in over 50 countries. It is a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee.Tearfund supports poor communities, marginalised groups, vulnerable adults, children, churches, education, HIV victims, conflicts, injustice, hunger, water and sanitation.

The charity was created out of the Evangelical Alliance (EA) and the Evangelical Refugee Fund created by the United Nations.

The organisation was originally called The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund Committee (abbreviated to TEAR Fund).

George Hoffman headed up the fund.[In January 1969 Cliff Richard did two fundraising concerts for Tearfund at London's Royal Albert Hall.:29 He has served as the charity's Vice President and in 1999 served as its president.In 2009 Richard gave the proceeds of his first 50th anniversary concert in Wembley Arena to Tearfund.

Tearfund was registered as a charity on 6 March 1973.

Tearfund Ireland was launched as an independent charity in 2008 and now works closely with Tearfund UK as a sister organisation.
