ABOUT THE MISSION

SI is present in North-East Nigeria since 2016 and is currently operating in 4 bases across Borno State (Maiduguri, Monguno, Ngala, Dikwa) with outreach capacities across all BAY States through its emergency component. Current coordination is based in Maiduguri while a representation office is set up in Abuja.

In 2020, SI opened a base in Zamfara State to start Emergency Response in North West where the security and humanitarian situation has been deteriorating in the past few years.

Security and humanitarian situation in both North East and North West as well as epidemic outbreaks continue to affect millions of live in those areas. SI is responding to the humanitarian needs of displaced populations and host communities through Wash, Shelter & NFI, FSL and Emergency activities. Through strategic partnership, SI also promotes integrated approach with health and protection sectors.

The annual budget of the mission is around 10 million euros in 2020 and the mission has potential for development in its current area of intervention as well as in the North Western part of Nigeria where limited actors are currently present.

The mission is fully staffed with 18 international and 200 national personals with a wide range of profiles. Position is currently based in Maiduguri but with a likely move of part of the coordination team, including the Logistics Coordinator, to Abuja towards the second semester of 2021.

ABOUT THE JOB

General objectives

    • The logistics coordinator pilot logistics activities of the mission to ensure the smooth running of SI programs in the country. He ensures the implementation of SI procedures and logistics tools on the mission and ensure their compliance and their proper use. He helps define the mission strategy, drafting and design projects necessary means and activities SI. He supports the Country Director in the operational safety. He is the referent on the mission and the link between headquarters and the mission for any issue related to logistics.

Specific stakes and challenges

    • Complex security and regulatory environment that impacts capacity to deliver goods and services to the deep-field bases
    • Opening and planned increase of activities in North West towards the end of the first semester
    • Constant close monitoring and control of suppliers / contractors is needed to ensure match between technical specifications provided and goods / services received

Priorities for the 2/3 first months

    • Ensure adequate coordination with programs and finance to facilitate anticipation of procurement and timely delivery
    • Absorption of North West base and activities by coordination (currently managed by the Emergency Desk)
    • Define with the coordination the best set-up for the logistic part of the mission in terms of HR needs at coordination and base level, premises, considering partial remote management of senior staff, absorption of North West base, potential move of part of Coordination to Abuja etc.

Budget volume

  • 10 Grants (10 million in 2020) with a financial visibility to July 2021

Direct management of the Supply Manager, the Fleet & Facility Officer and the IT responsible

YOUR PROFILE

Qualifications :

  • 5 years of logistics management experience with at least 1 years’ experience at a management/ coordination level and 2 year in an international (i.e. not home country) context
  • A degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Very good English proficiency
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong, proven Knowledge of security management systems and approaches for NGO’s
  • Ability to integrate into the local environment, taking account of its political, economic and historical characteristics
  • Appropriate skills and experience in the capacity building and training of staff
  • Strong experience of developing and implementing systems
  • Knowledge of project management, vehicle management, procurement, stock control and management systems;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, working knowledge of spread sheet and database management.
  • Ability to work under pressure to pursue multiple tasks simultaneously to successful conclusions
  • Resilience to stress
  • Ability to work under own initiative.

SI WILL OFFER YOU

Salaried position
Salary: According to experience, starting from EUR 2640 gross per month (EUR 2400 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly)

Monthly Per Diem: USD 600

SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of residence and the mission.

Break policy

  • 1 break of 7 working days every 3 months
  • 1 day off per worked month.

These days off, as well as the breaks, are not deducted from the paid leaves that are paid every months with your salary: they are offered by SI.

Social and medical cover:
Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.

Please note that this is an expatriate position.

Living conditions

The candidate will be accommodated in the guesthouse in Maiduguri. Towards the second half of the year, a partial move of the coordination towards Abuja is likely but conditional to the development of activities in North West
