ABOUT THE MISSION
SI is present in North-East Nigeria since 2016 and is currently operating in 4 bases across Borno State (Maiduguri, Monguno, Ngala, Dikwa) with outreach capacities across all BAY States through its emergency component. Current coordination is based in Maiduguri while a representation office is set up in Abuja.
In 2020, SI opened a base in Zamfara State to start Emergency Response in North West where the security and humanitarian situation has been deteriorating in the past few years.
Security and humanitarian situation in both North East and North West as well as epidemic outbreaks continue to affect millions of live in those areas. SI is responding to the humanitarian needs of displaced populations and host communities through Wash, Shelter & NFI, FSL and Emergency activities. Through strategic partnership, SI also promotes integrated approach with health and protection sectors.
The annual budget of the mission is around 10 million euros in 2020 and the mission has potential for development in its current area of intervention as well as in the North Western part of Nigeria where limited actors are currently present.
The mission is fully staffed with 18 international and 200 national personals with a wide range of profiles. Position is currently based in Maiduguri but with a likely move of part of the coordination team, including the Meal Coordinator.

ABOUT THE JOB
General objectives
The MEAL Co is part of the program coordination based in Maiduguri.
Designs the MEAL action plans of the mission, according to SI’s operational framework, and makes sure it is disseminated, understood, and implemented by the mission staff.
Specific stakes and challenges
- Provides methodological support to all program teams on technical questions linked to MEAL and cross-cutting issues such as develop M&E plan and its implementation, quantitative and qualitative data collection, indicator tracking, complaint response mechanism, “do no harm” analysis, terms of references of internal and external evaluations, etc.;
- Further strengthen existing MEAL system (launched in January 2020) by review and harmonization of current MEAL tools/checklists, information management/GIS Mapping, and especially data management system at the mission level;
- Develop and maintaining monitoring tools for external and internal coordination and communication, such as dashboards and web maps;
- Makes sure that MEAL department is well integrated with all departments (functional links) as well as coherent with all coordinators and managers;
- Ensure that cross-cutting issues (gender, protection, accountability to the affected population, do-no-harm, community participation, disability, etc.) are well integrated into all MEAL tools;
- Capacity building of MEAL and Program teams on MEAL approaches/system and day to day requirements;
- Build on institutional knowledge on MEAL activities and missions’ results (lessons learnt and recommendations) and make sure these are known by technical and field coordinators;
- Use SI’s IKB tools to document MEAL tools and methodologies/approaches, sharing with relevant HQ departments;
- Ensure accountability to beneficiaries by overseeing the feedback and complaints response mechanism (FCRM) through newly rolled-out SoPs.
Priorities for the 2/3 first months
- Support mission in designed/development of Management information system (MIS);
- Review existing MEAL Checklists/quality standards and further improvement with the support of technical coordinators ;
- Follow up on recently rolled-out FCRM SoPs and analyze the FCRM entry points.

Budget volume
10 Grants (10 million in 2020) with a financial visibility to July 2021
YOUR PROFILE
- Master’s degree or equivalent in statistic, quality control or humanitarian project management
- Experience in MEAL management and/or Project coordination (minimum 3 years);
- Knowledge of data collection, sampling, mobile data collection (Kobo, Power-BI) and data analysis
- Technical experience in mapping (QGIS) is an asset
- Experience in communication with communities and accountability mechanisms
- Previous experience with SI is a plus
- Strong report writing skills
- Data analysis (quantitative and qualitative)

- Data collection/research methods
- Mobile data collection tool development
- Ability to integrate into the local environment, taking account of its political, economic and historical characteristics
- Appropriate skills and experience in the capacity building and training of staff

SI WILL OFFER YOU
Salaried position
Salary: According to experience, starting from EUR 2640 gross per month (EUR 2400 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly)
Monthly Per Diem: USD 600
SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of residence and the mission.
Break policy
- 1 break of 7 working days every 3 months
- 1 day off per worked month.
These days off, as well as the breaks, are not deducted from the paid leaves that are paid every months with your salary: they are offered by SI.
Social and medical cover:
Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
Please note that this is an expatriate position.
Living conditions
The candidate will be accommodated in the guesthouse in Maiduguri. Towards the second half of the year, a partial move of the coordination towards Abuja is likely but conditional to the development of activities in North West
