OVERVIEW OF CTG GLOBAL

Established in 1951, our client is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. With 172 member states, a further 8 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, our client is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Role objective:

Under the overall supervision of the shelter/ NFI Programme Manager and the direct supervision of the shelter/ NFI Operations Officer, the successful candidate will provide support through the following activities.

Expected output:

Participate in the assessments, definition of technical documents and preparation of contracts for constructions undertaken by the shelter/NFI Unit;

Prepare requests of materials and verify that materials delivered by suppliers adhere to technical specifications and relevant quality standards;

Support with the monitoring of the shelter Unit’s constructions in Somalia;

Effectively work together with other cluster partners in executing emergency response activities;

Liaise with community leadership, intended project beneficiaries and relevant local government actors to promote appropriate involvement of the affected population in all the shelter/NFI Unit’s programmatic activities;

Conduct assessments of local markets including the compilation, analysis and presentation of basic data on, for example; prices, stocks, labour rates, supply-chains and financial literacy;

Support the conceptualization, and implementation of culture- and context-appropriate shelter/NFI interventions;

Organize and deliver skills-trainings/capacity building activities for the benefit of affected populations;Support the shelter/NFI units cash-based interventions through the monitoring of all related activities in the field. Including, but not limited to:

  • Voucher-distribution/collection
  • Verification of cash-for-work outputs
  • Vendor and community engagement
  • Processing of data and addressing beneficiary complaints/feedback

Support in the preparation of timely reports following implementation of activities using cluster standard format and other relevant tools and templates.

Provide information, that is texts, interviews and pictures that enhance visibility of activities implemented by the client in the field; and

Any other task not listed above when requested by the supervisors.

Project reporting:

This position will be under the overall supervision of the shelter/ NFI Programme Manager and the direct supervision of the shelter/ NFI Operations Officer

Team management:

This position does not have team management responsibilities

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Conflict Management.

Work experience:

Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable relevant Other experience.

Geographical experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Africa (essential).

Languages:

Fluency in English and Somali are essential.

Key competencies:

Ability to assess and adapt shelter designs to different contexts.

Ability to monitor large groups of people.

Good intra-personal skills.

Willing and able to engage in continuous dialogue with affected populations and its leadership structures as well as other interlocutors and partners of the S/NFI unit. Ability to write weekly and monthly reports as required.

Knowledge of protection.

Fluency in English (written and spoken), Arabic and local language are required

Working knowledge of Autocad, Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet and Outlook

Ability to treat all persons of concern with dignity, respect and without discrimination.
