Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international medical humanitarian association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations facing life-threatening crises and is present in some thirty countries.

OCP projects in Maiduguri started in late 2014 following the 2013 rise in violence in Borno State and the large influx of IDPs into Maiduguri city. Until 2016 different projects were opened, including activities in Maiduguri and in IDP camps, but also in Bama, Monguno and Dikwa Local Government Areas (LGA).

OCP is looking for his/her Partnership project coordinator in Maiduguri-Nigeria

The Partnership Coordinator will be responsible for developing and managing the partnership between OCP and Local Partner in Borno.

  • Establish the basis of the partnership in view to formalize a MOU
  • Upon delegation and with support from Head of Mission, the Partnership Coordinator takes the lead role for MSF engagement with the local partner in Borno
  • Identifies and ensures that all the main prerequisites for the development of this partnership are in place
  • Organizes the partner assessment (operational; administrative; legal financial; organizational; managerial), in close collaboration with the Mission and the HQ relevant departments
  • Builds a relationship of trust between the two partners, ensuring that both are respected, listened to, supported and learning from each other, while having open channel to discuss challenges and constraints as they arise
  • Prepares the MoU that will be signed between MSF and Local Partner, with support from HQ relevant Advisers
  • Build the capacity building plan with the partner as per their need and with close collaboration and involvement of coordination
  • Responsible for assessing staff and partners’ capacities are relevant to ensure the quality of operational activities
  • Identifies partners’ capacity strengthening needs and necessary operational systems adaptations, and develops relevant training and development strategy
  • Initiates the development and implementation of appropriate partnership and capacity buildings modules, tools and plans with support from the Mission, HQ relevant Technical Advisers, or external providers
  • Establish the tools necessary for implementation, monitoring and reporting of the activity
  • Develops the compliance, reporting and monitoring responsibilities and the associated tools and templates for partner’s oversight and monitoring of the activity
  • Together with the HoM ensures the communication of partnership to key stakeholders for awareness, transparency and acceptance purposes
  • Identify and assess the main risks that can emanate from this partnership both for MSF and local parner (including risks to staff, assets, legal, reputational), proposes and coordinates relevant mitigation measures
  • Being accountable for the proper planning, sizing, and coordination of all financial and material resources needed in the partnership
  • Evaluates project performance and provides all the required reports to HOM on project planning, project monitoring and project evaluation in line with Mission reporting cycle
  • Being accountable and supervising the implementation of the project by the partner, ensuring that the pre-agreed technical and ethical standards are followed and objectives are achieved.
  • Evaluates and advise on the feasibility of this partnership taking into account the outcomes and findings from the above activities

The Partnership Coordinator will work closely with the HoM who is the overall responsible for all aspects of partnership implementation, in addition to the Borno Project Coordinator who oversees the regular project activities in Maiduguri, iii) the HQ partnership referent who will provide support for the development of the partnership.

Expériences / Formation

  • Mandatory: previous working experience in relevant similar positions (including experience of successfully managing projects with local partner) in other organizations
  • Desirable: MSF Experience in Operations (PC or HoM profile)
  • Strong interest in working with partners
  • Education: University education in international studies, public policy, law, project-, HR-, operations-management, project management or similar fields.

Salaire

Contract duration: 6 months with possibility to extend

Level 13: Project coordinator

Location: Maiduguri, Borno( with travels to Abuja)

Languages: Excellent English
