Job Title: Darfur Programme Officer
Location: Nyala with extensive field travel
Reporting to: Darfur Peacebuilding Manager (based in Nyala)
Salary: $1145 per month. 33 days of annual leave to include all religious and public holidays.
Role Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Implementation and Management
Assist in the development and execution of project plans, ensuring activities are implemented in accordance with established timelines.
Support the MEAL Officer to monitor field activities to ensure that they are conducted according to the approved work plans, budget, and donor requirements.
Coordinate with local partners, including community leaders, local government, and civil society organizations, to ensure alignment and cooperation with project objectives.
Oversee timely submission of Advisory Group reports and impact stories.
Effectively participate in programme planning meetings for effective implementation of the project.
Write impact stories of the work of the Advisory Groups and other participants in the programme.
Supporting Concordis in reaching planned project outcomes and activities, in particular, in ensuring increased participation, awareness and influence of women and youth in community peacebuilding initiatives.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
Support the MEAL Officer in the implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems.
Contribute to data collection to improve programme implementation and strategy.
Participate in project review and/or evaluation meetings, as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination
To ensure coordination and synergy, maintain effective communication with community groups, local government officials, and local NGOs working in the same area.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to foster collaboration and long-term partnerships that contribute to peacebuilding objectives in Darfur.
Contribute to discussions on new project ideas and initiatives to expand the scope of Concordis’ work in Sudan.
Assist in the design and delivery of training programmes for local stakeholders, including community-based organizations and peace committees.
Build and manage relationships with partners to support implementation of the project.
Person Specification:
Essential:
• A Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Peacebuilding, or a related field. A Master’s degree will be considered an advantage;
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in international development, peacebuilding, or conflict resolution programmes, preferably in conflict or post-conflict settings;
• Proven experience in programme management and implementation;
• Experience working in fragile contexts, particularly in Darfur or other conflict-affected regions and willingness to travel frequently to remote and potentially insecure areas within Darfur;
• Demonstrated experience working with local partners and government institutions in the delivery of humanitarian or peacebuilding programmes;
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and critically;
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders;
•Fluent in English (both written and spoken); knowledge of Arabic or local languages is a significant asset;
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with project management tools;
•Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities;
•Personal efficiency, resourcefulness, organisational ability and the ability to be flexible and maintain good humour in challenging circumstances;
•Awareness of cultural diversity and political sensitivities and ability to address such issues with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity;
